Using Google Calendar for Client Scheduling – part 2 Adding the Calendar
In the Previous post, I documented the settings for sharing the Google Calendar but limiting the information displayed publicly. This way you can show your availability but not the details of your busy time.
In this post, I will document how to add the “Google Calendar” to your website / Blog.
Adding the Calendar
At this point I am going to assume that you know how to create a new page on your site or Blog. Have this ready at the point where you can add the HTML code for the Google Calendar. If this were a new Blog Page you could use the HTML code directly in the post.
Again, as before click the “Settings” link in your calendar
Once in the settings, click on your Calendar Name as shown in image below. Note: mine is named for me (Bill Sullivan)
This will get you to many different options.
Down near the bottom of the page is a section called “Embed this calendar”. To the the right of that is the HTML code for putting into your own website. Copy all of this text and paste it into your blog post or add to your website. Save and publish your site to view how it looks
There are a couple things to note here though.
- The size of your calendar is set in the copied text. – width=”800″ height=”600″. That is the default. You can change this to meet your requirements. I am using 700 and 600 for mine. Have a look at it to see. My Calendar
- Once you have your calendar posted you may still see the details on the busy time. This just means that your browser is still using your logged on credentials in another tab or window. Find that and sign out to see what the public will see.
